Potatoes are one of the easiest vegetables to grow in containers. Grow bags are ideal because they allow easy root expansion and harvesting.


Plant Overview

  • Container size: 30–40L grow bag
  • Sunlight: 6 hours
  • Soil: Loose potting mix
  • BC Tip: Plant in early spring

What You Need

  • Grow bag (30L+)
  • Seed potatoes
  • Potting mix
  • Compost

Step-by-step Instructions

Step 1 — Add soil layer

Add 10–15cm of soil to the grow bag.

Step 2 — Place seed potatoes

Place potatoes evenly spaced.

Step 3 — Cover and grow

Cover with soil and add more soil as plants grow taller.

Common Mistakes

  • Using regular potatoes instead of seed potatoes
  • Too little soil depth
  • Not enough sunlight
